Examines the need for the installation of anti climbing devices in certain situations. It describes the situations where enhanced anti climbing devices may be needed and their design. Also included are examples of safety signs and recommendations as to where they should be placed. It should be read with the understanding that it is not possible to defeat a determined effort to gain unauthorised access to overhead lines. The purpose is to provide guidance as to the appropriate deterrent concepts that should be employed and adequately warn potential trespassers. The anti climbing devices and signs must be such that they do not constitute a hazard to personnel engaged in authorised activities on over head line supports.
