Applicable to radiation from laser products. This standard has been divided into three sections: General, manufacturing requirements and users guide. A laser product may consist of one or more lasers used in a complex optical, electrical or mechanical system. Laser products are used in industry, business, entertainment, research, education and medicine. The object of this standard is to protect persons from laser radiation by indicating safe working levels of laser radiation and by supplying information so that proper precautions can be adopted. Laser products which are sold to other manufacturers for use as components of any system for subsequent sale are not subject to this standard.
