This standard is included in DIN Handbook 175. Describes a non-destructive method of measuring the coating thickness using the X-ray spectrometric method. This method serves to measure the thickness of metallic coatings on metallic or non-metallic substrate and, under certain conditions, that of non-metallic coatings on metallic substrate. It permits both the mass of coating per unit area and where the coating density is known, the coating thickness to be determined.
